About the Hudson Valley Conservatory

Established in 1993, the Hudson Valley Conservatory (HVC) was conceived by directors Samuel E Wright, Amanda A Wright and Pamela A Murphy, with the goal of bringing arts to the Hudson Valley region. As the only performing arts school in the area, HVC teaches music, dance and drama to ages four and up with classes ranging from the recreational to the more structured. We cater to students who are in pursuit of a career in the arts field as well as those who are interested in just the basics. From its inception, HVC has grown from a three room studio to an entire complex of dance studios, music studios, and in 2000, its own 180 seat theatre. With this growth HVC has been able to create high quality, affordable performances for the community and establish itself as the premier venue for the performing arts in the region. HVC also offers numerous opportunities for performing throughout the year. Not only do we participate in numerous town celebrations (General Montgomery Day and Walden Harvest Festival, to name two) we also have cabaret style Coffee Houses, Holiday performances, mid-year dance shows and various other occasions for performing. From its beginning, the Hudson Valley Conservatory's mission has been to create an environment for the arts that allows all students to develop as well rounded performers while still maintaining their own individual and creative spirit.
